Technology web-blog site has recognised the explosion of the iPad as it's rolled out across the planet.

The comprehensive site has compiled some of the best of the apps so far — the ones you'll actually want to have.

This guide will be updated multiple times this weekend, since apps are still flowing in by the hundreds.  A neat feature on Gizmodo is that you can check up on the app review marathon liveblog,  which will be running all day today.

A lot of the apps are iPhone carryovers, and a lot of them cost more than you might be used to in the App Store economy. But for a first batch, these apps at least look rather spectacular.

The first iPad buyers were enthusiastically lining the Apple Store in Sydney this morning to make their purchase.
